CHARMANT SHIELD

Start of production of newly developed face shields that reduce the risk of corona virus infection

We are ready to produce and supply newly developed face shields that reduce the exposure to droplets which may contain corona virus. The first donation of 5,050 face shields and 2,000 goggles will be made to the Fukui prefecture in Japan to be used by medical professionals.

CHARMANT has developed this general-purpose face shield "CHARMANT SHIELD" to help in response to the corona virus pandemic emergency. It is scheduled to be available from mid-May 2020. CHARMANT will gradually increase production capacity to produce 50,000 pieces at the end of May, 100,000 at the end of June, and 200,000-300,000 per month from July onwards, aiming to supply a total of 1 million units by the end of September and 2 million units by the end of December 2020.

With this initiative the company hopes to continue its work in the medical field and supply those at high risk of infection who work in nursing, childcare and retail hospitality.

The method of delivering this service and further details will be provided in due course, dependent on the future spread of the infection and other influencing factors.

Masakiyo Honjo, President and CEO of CHARMANT, comments: "We would like to use our technology, which has been developed through our optical frame and medical devices production, to help as many people as possible who are particularly exposed to the risk of infection through their work. That is why we want to move forward quickly.

For the moment we will start by supplying within Japan but are looking to develop worldwide distribution as our production capacity increases.”
